He scrambled back, just as a dragon-like creature snapped at him. Jason moved to bolt again, another scream at the tip of his tongue but was stopped by a group of hooded figures. The boy looked between the figures and the snake-like dragon that regarded him with eerie yellow eyes and deep verdant scales that glittered in anticipation. Jason refused to let himself burst into tears. He did not want them to see his fear. He turned to the cloaked figures and tilted his chin up imperiously, straightening his back. He was ten years old! He could handle this! He was a big boy now - his mother had said so, although his sister had snorted at that.
“Excuse me.” He said politely. “I was just about to leave.”
